Maya McCormack Chiaroscuro Jewelry Collection
Chiaroscuro Jewelry Collection is Bronze Design Award winner in 2020 - 2021 Jewelry Design Award Category.
Chiaroscuro Jewelry Collection

A Jewelry collection exploring different iterations of a singular element in repetition to create a whole. Designing an individual link and pushing the boundaries to how it can be transformed with the use of material and technique combinations. Mirroring the uniqueness of the individual, a repetition of the same form in constant evolution, adding and subtracting but always growing. An exploration that has evolved with me and will continue to develop and change. This design is not only unique in its form but also in its process and materials. An intersection between traditional silversmith techniques and technological advances. A back and forth between Computer-Aided Design and organic exploration through the use of 3D printed ABS, natural dye, cast sterling silver and Swarovski sponsored crystals. Reflecting the concept itself. A combination of elements that change over time being held together by history and contemporaneity.

Maya McCormack

concept artist, jewellery designer, and maker. Always a creator. Always curious. Always trying to learn more. My childhood was mostly spent traveling to, from, and around Ireland and El Salvador. When I wasn’t exploring the world I was trying to add glitter to as many surfaces as possible. This love for shiny thingsled me to Florence, Italy where my bench mates were an eclectic mix ofsilversmiths from five different continents. My creative horizons and development grew even further at the Savannah College of Art and Design where I graduated with a B.F.A. in Jewellery. Opening my eyes to cross-disciplinary collaboration and enabling new ways of expressing creativity through advances in technology. Most of my concepts start by looking within myself and trying to translate my feelingsinto something tangible. There's an inexplicable sensation when you go from concept to completion. I'm always searching for new challenges and experiences.
