There are thousands of design, architecture and art awards organized each year worldwide. We estimate the number to be around thousand awards run each day, most of such awards are run by local institutions, municipalities, NGOs, brands and governments to support their own initiatives and to create awareness for the political and social issues or for problem solving in local communities, with a percentage of them being competitions for procurement. These small awards are important and valuable gems in the design competition organization landscape even though most of them have terms that may look adversarial to entrants, such as transfer of copyrights or intellectual properties to organizers, they have a distinct function of serving the society and in general also come with monetary prizes that may support young designers and upcoming professionals in local communities. However, these awards, even when organized internationally, are not comparable in reach, publicity, promotion, prestige and professionalism of large international awards that are professionally organized, and exception to this rule are nation-level awards that have substantial budgets, but these national awards usually have their own caveat that they, as their name suggest, are national, and either limits entry to nationals from the country of origin, or are biased towards awarding nationals from the country of origin, and in general are not a replacement or analog to large awards and competitions organized globally. Within this perspective, consider the A' Design Award where entries are published in 108+ languages, where jury is composed from scholars, academics, journalists, media members, design professionals, architects, creatives, brand managers and entrepreneurs from almost all major countries each year, where entries are awarded extremely meritocratically following blind and anonymous voting on nominated works following pre-established criteria, where the votes are standardized and final results are calculated meticulously, and this all establish the prestige, the fairness, the non-biased voting and awarding needed for an award to be truly valuable, honorable, prestigious. Yearbook refers to the annual publication design awards publish where they list their winners. So, some awards would charge you for getting listed in the annual publication, even some very well-known awards do that. A' Design Award does not charge Professional Edition and Digital Edition winners any money to get published in the yearbook. Now, moving ahead, some other awards may charge you fees for “page preparation”, but A' Design Award does not charge Professional Edition and Digital Edition winners any money for preparing your yearbook page, for reviewing your page, for proofreading, typesetting or otherwise making your page. Then, some awards further charge you for a copy of the publication, i.e. even they may offer to publish they charge you fees to obtain the publication in which you are published. A' Design Award does not charge Professional Edition and Digital Edition winners any money for a copy of their publication, indeed Professional Edition laureates may collect, completely free of charge, the winner yearbook during the A' Design Award Gala-Night & Awards Ceremony in Italy, as part of the physical components of the winner kit distributed to Professional Edition laureates, and the Digital Laureates are granted access to digital version of the yearbooks. Here, we shall also remind that A' Design Award creates multiple yearbooks each year, each with distinct ISBN numbers. Professional Editions winners, who provided us with a license, and whose works were awarded in public categories, are published in at least two publications each year, that is the Hardcover Yearbook of Best Designs and the Digital Yearbook of Best Designs published by the A' Design Award. Digital Edition A' Design Award winners gain free coverage in the digital yearbook. So, the A' Design Award does not charge Professional Edition and Digital Edition winners any money to neither include you in the book, nor give you a copy of the book, which is in contrast to many other awards, due to how they initially designed their business model, charge “book inclusion fees”, “book contribution fees”, “yearbook fees” as well as sell their book, so to be clear A' Design Award does not charge Professional Edition and Digital Edition winners any money for neither the winner book nor for putting you in the book. Now you know how it works, you will be surprised to learn yet another aspect. “Full-Page Publication”. What is “Full-Page Publication” you may ask, basically, full-page spread or full-page feature is when your winning work is published in these award winner yearbooks as an entire dedicated page.
