Book Page Preview and Quality Control
A' Design Award employs a meticulous, multi-tiered heuristic approach to quality control for its prestigious Yearbooks, systematically distributing review responsibilities across specialized experts. Each expert exclusively handles one aspect, such as verifying laureate names, proofreading textual content, inspecting image quality, reviewing layout consistency, checking the complete book coherence, and validating the printed book's physical quality. A' Design Award's structured division to yearbook review minimizes oversight due to cognitive fatigue or familiarity blindness, proactively resolving minor issues and transparently communicating adjustments, while laureates retain control through a clear notification and preview system. Ultimately, our rigorous methodology brings forward exceptional integrity and marketability, enhancing laureates' professional reputations through a publication exemplifying design excellence.
Book Page Quality Control Process
A' Design Award applies a comprehensive, multi-tiered review and quality control methodology to ensure exceptional quality for each page featured in our prestigious Yearbooks. Our heuristic approach involves systematically distributing the review responsibilities across specialized team members, each focusing exclusively on distinct aspects of the page preparation and verification process. Initially, upon submission, all entrants provide high-resolution visuals and comprehensive textual descriptions, enabling the editorial team to have ready access to high-quality content. Following the selection of winning designs, the process of creating Yearbook pages begins. At this stage, A' Design Award employs an optimized editorial template, meticulously refined over many years, to ensure each design is presented in its best possible form.

At A' Design Award, yearbook quality starts with the selection of right paper, we use thick very white paper to ensure your image colors are reflected properly without bleed from other pages, paper is especially thick so that the design on the back side don't cast a shadow to your work or effect how colors are shown to you. However, when we talk about quality, it is more about the contents of the book rather than its cover. Quality assurance is carried out through a specialized heuristic technique involving multiple parallel reviews, each conducted by a different expert. Each reviewer concentrates exclusively on a singular, clearly-defined task to eliminate oversight caused by cognitive fatigue or familiarity blindness. Specifically, these distinct roles are assigned as follows:
-
Name Verification:
One A' Design Award team member is exclusively responsible for verifying the correctness of laureate names, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout the publication. We also ensure that the names are not too long to break the visual template, if there are too many names, we would ask you to reduce the names. In tandem we also verify if your account types match the namings.
-
Textual Proofreading:
A different reviewer thoroughly examines textual content, including design descriptions, category information, and achievement highlights, to ensure clarity, grammatical accuracy, and editorial consistency. When your submission already have yearbook page text, we review that. Otherwise using your other text such as for insights, unique properties, technical details, with minimum intervention, we create synthetic text.
-
Visual Quality Control:
Another dedicated team member inspects images, specifically checking resolution, color accuracy, presentation quality, and alignment with established visual standards and guidelines. Our team also reviews if your images are compliant with our quality guidelines because it is not enough to have a technically perfect presentation, your images must match the prestige and overall quality of the book.
-
Overall Presentation Check:
A separate reviewer assesses the final layout, ensuring adherence to the established editorial template, correct visual-textual integration, overall aesthetic balance, and compliance with established design guidelines. The role of this reviewer is to check if anything is weird going in on your page, by checking all the details, from a birdseye view, so they can check images, texts, names, and other details.
-
Final Book Review:
An additional reviewer examines the fully composed book, analyzing page-to-page consistency, coherence, structural integrity, and ensuring there are no anomalies or deviations from quality standards. This is almost always done by a distinct reviewer to ensure they can see new issues, because if you check same things over and over you get blind to it, so a new reviewer is needed for this step.
-
Printed Book Validation:
Yet another reviewer conducts a final physical check of the printed hardcover book, reviewing print quality, color fidelity, material excellence, and binding durability, thus safeguarding the premium physical attributes of the hardcover yearbook. Likewise, the Digital Yearbook is also reviewed by yet another review, to ensure everything looks okay and there are no issues.
By segregating responsibilities, the risk of individual reviewers overlooking subtle yet significant issues is significantly minimized. A' Design Award's parallel heuristic yearbook review methodology enhances the accuracy and reliability of the quality control process.
Furthermore, in instances where issues emerge, such as image resolution concerns, textual inaccuracies, or guideline non-compliance, A' Design Award proactively addresses them, often autonomously rectifying minor issues without requiring additional involvement from laureates, however subject to our microfines policy and A.C.E. Settings. Intellectual property and legal matters are also reviewed carefully; when potential issues are identified, laureates are promptly informed and requested to resolve them collaboratively, or A' Design Award directly intervenes to ensure compliance and mitigate risks. Disclaimer: Here we shall note that we are not legal compliance reviewers, as such we cannot always catch all legal risks, but we take actions to reduce them, in a as-is, where-is, as-available basis with all faults. We note this so that you don't just rely on us and also yourself review and check for legal issues especially for copyrights and review yourself too.
Throughout the entire review process, laureates retain ultimate oversight, facilitated by a transparent notification and preview system. Any modifications made during quality control are communicated transparently through a symbolic notification charge, granting laureates the option to review adjustments and, if desired, control or opt out of specific alterations via the A.C.E. Settings. A' Design Award helps laureates to remain actively involved, empowered to review changes based on individual preferences or strategic considerations. Of course, if there are no problems, the process flows very easily, you get only the yearbook page preview, and if you do not reply timely, by default, it would most likely to go to print or gets published since we already review it multiple times, especially if we also have a valid license.
A' Design Award's rigorous heuristic approach ensures not only the integrity and prestige of individual yearbook pages but collectively enhances the overall quality and marketability of the entire book. By investing extensively in a meticulous review methodology we aim to consistently produce publications that elevates laureates' credibility, visibility and professional reputation, transforming the yearbook into a powerful marketing asset that reflects very high standards of design excellence.

Yearbook Reviews and Quality Control - How does it work?
A' Design Award provides extensive quality control and reviews for your winner page features in our prestigious yearbooks, but how does it all work? When you join and win the A' Design Award via Professional Entry or Digital Edition Entry, if your work is in a public category (non-concealed category), you become eligible to be published at A' Design Award’s Yearbook(s). Professional Edition laureates gain full page feature, free of charge, at two publications: A' Design Award’s Hardcover Yearbook of Best Designs – high quality books published in several volumes, each with a thematic focus, with distinct ISBNs as well as A' Design Award’s Digital Yearbook. Digital Edition laureates gain coverage in our Digital Yearbook only. The Digital Yearbook differs from the Hardcover Yearbook which is printed on high quality paper, by the fact that it contains winners from all categories. A' Design Award’s Hardcover Printed Yearbook is given free of charge to Professional Edition laureates during our Gala Night in Italy. So, you not only get coverage in the book, but also get a copy of the book during our awards ceremony, which is highly valuable. There are many books out there, so what makes the A' Design Award’s Yearbooks so special? The prestige of our yearbooks comes from the aspect that it only features award-winning designs that have been meritocratically selected, that said, having a hundred even thousands of world-class designs in our book is not the only reason why the A' Design Award yearbooks are great, an important reason, almost invisible, is the fact that the books are good themselves. So how do you make a great book on design? To make a great book on design, you need a lot of great design, which we have, and then you need to present them great. How do you present the designs great? By giving attention to intricate details. When you join the A' Design Award, initially for jury voting we ask you to provide us with high-resolution images and comprehensive texts that explain your project. These texts and high-resolution visuals become very relevant when we start making your book pages because at this point, we almost always have everything ready at our hands, the best ingredients to prepare a great book on design. A' Design Award’s editorial team has developed a template perfected over many years, designed to present your design in the best light, where we feature heavily a key image, followed by five images, four of the images being your design’s optional images, and the last image is your brand logo, which is further accompanies by a link to your online winner profile, and texts that explain your project, as well as texts that highlight your achievement and award category. Your yearbook page is not automatically printed, that’s where our yearbook page review team comes into play. Your yearbook pages are distributed to multiple team members, with each team member responsible for only a specific subset of quality review process. One team member checks your name, another proof reads your design’s yearbook texts, another team member inspects the visuals, and then another team member checks the overall presentation, then another team members checks the final book, and then another team member checks the printed book, this is done always by distinct people because if you ask a single person to do it, they get “blind to details” i.e. they don’t see anymore what’s wrong, so it is better this way, but of course this way of meticulous checking is resource intensive, it is hard, is expensive, but since many people do it at the same time, most processes can be run in parallel, yet the cost is significant. So why do we spend this cost, every year, year after year, for preparing your yearbook pages? Because we care about how your pages look, how your text is written, how your name is presented. When there are issues with your yearbook, within the scope of our review process, we proactively fix the issues. Image resolution problems? We fix if we find them. Presentation guidelines non-compliance? If it is something we could fix, we fix. Intellectual property issues or legal issues? If we identify them in advance, we let you know and ask you to help us fix them, and in some cases, we just fix them. In the end, we create a book that is free from problems, and that matters not just for your page, but for all winner’s pages, because the quality of a chain is its weakest link, and same can be said for books, if several pages look weird or bad, it would reduce the value of your book, and we know that so that’s why A' Design Award invests heavily in proofreading and making quality control of the book, we do it before print, we do it after print, to try to catch and fix everything we can. When we make changes, we don’t bother you or make you tired, we just fix, and charge you a symbolic amount to inform you that we had reviewed and fixed things, this is important as it gives you ability to preview your page to see what has changed, but most importantly you can disable and take full control: Using A.C.E. Settings, you can decide what sort of changes we are permitted to make, and what kind of changes we cannot make, and what to do when a change is required. A' Design Award’s yearbook review process takes months, and it starts at the very moment you submit your design for the A' Design Award nomination. To make sure your design is eligible for publication, we have prepared detailed submission guidelines, which help you present us with book-ready images and visuals and text. Moreover, we actively and manually review, each uploaded design, and provide you with feedback; if your images are not good, we inform you, if your texts are missing, we ask you. This helps us fix almost all the issues before you even nominate your work, and after your work is a winner, we start with making a Yearbook Page preview. We send you the Yearbook Page preview, think it like a draft page for your A' Design Award winner book. You get a file that shows how your yearbook page will look like, this is important because even though the process to review your book page is done many times by many people, in the end, it is you whom is most invested in it, therefore we provide you an opportunity to view it, before your yearbook goes into publication. We want your yearbook page to look perfect because if we can make all individual pages perfect, then the book can become exceptional, and considering the fact that A' Design Award yearbooks contain only award-winning designs, when also the pages are perfect, in the end we have an outstanding book that is a pleasure to read, hold, showcase. Moreover, because you have a copy of your yearbook page in digital format, you can also use them as marketing assets in your advertising and public relation campaigns, showcasing to prospective clients, consumers, customers via your websites, newsletters or social media. Your authority is further supported by the fact that, you, yourself as the laureate, is credited as a valuable contributor, co-author of the yearbook in which your designs are featured at, which generates further value, for example especially academic entrants may earn a publication credit towards academic progression with their co-authorship. You are noted as co-author as it is you whom supplies the text required for the yearbook, we make it possible that you give us the yearbook text, and if the text is empty, we populate it from other text that you had already provided to us. Since you have meaningfully contributed both text and images, it is only natural that the A' Design Award, showing highest respect to your contribution, credits you as a co-author in the co-authors page at our yearbooks. Moreover, our yearbooks explain the distinct achievements, their meanings, and are structured in a way where the highest awarded works are shown first, creating meritocratic display of design excellence. Your prestige augments further by the fact that we do not dilute your yearbook page with some other winners’ works. You get an entire page free of charge at the A' Design Award’s yearbook, you get a full-page, entirely dedicated to your winning work. This aspect makes your prestige higher, makes the value of your yearbook page as a marketing asset higher, and is one of the many ways how A' Design Award shows its respect to you. You know many awards either put many designs in a single page, or charge you to get a full page, they charge you for book contributions, book preparations, book printing, then full page they charge extra, we all know this, you know this, and you should know that they will also charge you for the book. However, when you win the A' Design Award via Professional Edition or Digital Edition, you get everything. Your book page is prepared for you for free, your book pages are printed (Professional Edition) or published digitally (Professional Edition and Digital Edition) for you free, you get an entire page, full-page, dedicated to you for free, then you also get a copy of the hardcover printed yearbook for free during gala (Professional Edition) or get access to digital download of the digital yearbook free (Digital Edition and Professional Edition both), and even more you also get credited as a co-author, again free, and then you also get high-quality review process completely free of charge. The review process is expensive, it is intensive, and we do it because in the end, we want you to get featured respectfully and graciously in the A' Design Award’s Yearbooks, in a way that reflects your own brand value, your own methos of creating superior products and projects that benefit and advance society. All these are some of the reasons why A' Design Award may seem bureaucratic, we just want to make it good for you, we don’t want to publish a book just to publish a book, we want to publish books that create value for you. We know that if we can publish great books, we can help your good design inspire, attract, convince customers, clients, consumers, media and investors. That’s why A' Design Award & Competition heavily invests in a quality review process, that’s why we read your texts, check your images, fix issues proactively, and since we are also respectful, we also provide you the A.C.E. Settings so you can opt-out if you want to be. Moreover, we also ask all laureates to give us license to publish the images, that’s so important as well because this further makes the book “cleaner” from a legal perspective, when the laureates provide license, the likelihood of images with intellectual property and copyright disputes appearing and thus ruining the book decrease, combined with the fact that A' Design Award yearbook only feature jury-validated good designs, this makes the A' Design Award yearbooks even better. In the end, the way we conduct the process via intelligent initial design and data collection (which you should also know costs us significant because many people give up, they are like “we did not win yet why should we provide so much text and images” – but of course more images mean better jury presentation, and better jury presentation by all entrants mean a more fair and meritocratic competition, and also good results, good content that we can integrate to book), then of course we create yearbook page review for you, and then we review your yearbook pages one by one, by many people each focused on a different task, with the final goal of preparing you an excellent page that you can truly leverage for your business, be it for attracting media, journalists, clients, consumers, partners or investors, or for using it in your advertising campaigns and public relations, fully, without reservation. We note all these because you are a designer, you naturally expect to have a high-quality yearbook and many awards don’t give it, some give it but not free, and on the contrary, we give it all, we put our soul to this and prepare you a great book. We wanted you to know, that A' Design Award cares a lot about your design and its eminent presentation.
