Fellow53 Ltd, trading as dwiss, was founded by Jon Walker in 2015. It's mission is to help humankind shift to a more sustainable position with regards the use of natural resources in order to help preserve a healthy environment. Fellow53's vision is for everyone to have a fair chance in life, and having a healthy environment in which to live and grow is a key aspect of such a fair chance. Fellow53 has used 'design thinking' to develop its launch product, the 'dwiss' - a domestic recycling unit made of plywood that inspires people to recycle more by making it quick, easy and sustainable. To develop the dwiss Fellow53 has collaborated with Sheffield Hallam University and multiple designers and makers from across Europe. It has used rapid prototyping to develop an effective product that brought delight from users. Fellow53 has partnered with Godrej & Boyce, an Indian manufacturing business, to develop a very low cost version of the dwiss that will be made from their waste plastic. Fellow53 will work with local authorities around the world to provide this version as 'product as a service'. This economically viable approach will enable the dwiss to be introduced to communities that only currently recycle a small portion of their waste, which in turn will start to make significant progress with regards the recycling of all domestic waste.
