Architect Yoshitaka Uchino is the lead architect of YDS Architects. Our works are mainly design on houses and housings,focusing on beautiful and affluent spaces where lights and winds are boutiful.

Architect Yoshitaka Uchino is the lead architect of YDS Architects.We are an office of architects mainly designs houses and apartments.We also design kindergartens,social welfare facilities,offices,restaurants,renovations and so on. Our main theme is designing affluent spaces where lights and winds are bountiful while we pursuit beautiful architectures corresponds to the client's needs and other conditions. We always intend to design a beautiful spaces with nature where people feel the transition of light and shadow.This concept is inspired by Japanese architectures like Katsura imperial Villa,Itsukushima shrine and what not. We usually use simple geometry such as circle,square,frame,grid to design architectures and interior spaces.We believe that complex spatial experiences by simple geometry would be bountiful.This attitude toward architecture is somewhat minimalism.Our concept for architecture are influenced by traditional Eastern and Western architectures and works by several architects such as Le Corbusier,Tadao Ando. When we design houses,we always image cozy spaces which invoke activities of the family while they interact with nature.We intended to design voids by which light and wind effectively go through.Outer terrace are our important spaces concerning houses,because we believe that by connecting the outer terrace to the inner spaces ,the interaction with nature would come into being.This would make the members of the family have affections for nature,in a way,they would live with nature always feeling light,wind,rain. On designing housings,our main method is to bring the court or plaza and link stairs to them.In most of housings the stairs are put behind or back the volume,so that these are not useful spaces for residents,only for fulfill the demand of law.On the other hand,we highly value spaces of stairs as a vigorous spaces for residents.Along with corridors,I think,stairs should be spaces to enjoy when they up or down.Connecting stairs with courts would make them valuable public spaces to serve residents.Facing the business aspects and laws,we always intend to design stairs with court. We believe that beautiful spaces and these public spaces within houses and housing,also commercial buildings,would serve as a small universe for people.I hope that people living in or staying spaces of my works would enjoy and feel happiness with leeting go of their mind.
