About Reza Sedghi : Reza Sedghi (b. 1993, Tehran) is a sculptor and 3D artist whose work explores human thought, morality, and social issues. Drawing from classical mythology, he bridges historical ideals with contemporary narratives. Beginning in animation and 3D printing, he specialized in digital sculpting and character design before moving into fine art sculpture. His work has been exhibited internationally, earning the Lorenzo Il Magnifico Special Commendation at the Florence Biennale. His sculptures have appeared at NY ARTWALK in Times Square and are permanently installed in the collections of MEAM Museum and the RFK Foundation Italia. Human beings have always attempted to understand themselves through what they create. Art and design emerge from this impulse: the need to give form to meaning, intention, and responsibility. They are not isolated practices, but parallel languages through which societies express values, priorities, and limitations. Design operates at the intersection of intention and function. It shapes how we interact with objects, systems, and environments, often invisibly. Good design is not defined solely by efficiency or aesthetics, but by awareness—of context, consequence, and use. It requires clarity of purpose, restraint, and respect for material and process. Design succeeds when form and function serve a coherent idea rather than novelty alone. Art occupies a different but related territory. It does not aim to resolve problems, but to expose them. Art allows contradiction, uncertainty, and reflection to exist without resolution. In my practice, classical forms and mythological narratives recur not as nostalgia, but as critical tools. These forms once embodied humanity’s highest ideals—reason, harmony, and moral aspiration. When placed within a contemporary context marked by conflict, decay, and contradiction, they reveal the distance between inherited ideals and present realities. My ongoing body of work, The State of Decay, reflects on this distance. While technological and structural systems evolve rapidly, moral development often lags behind. This imbalance produces societies capable of extraordinary creation and simultaneous destruction. Through sculpture, decay becomes a metaphor for the erosion of ideals, ambition unchecked by responsibility, and the quiet normalization of injustice. Working across digital and physical processes has shaped my approach to making. Precision, structure, and technical mastery are essential, but they gain meaning only when aligned with intention. Whether a work is functional or purely expressive, coherence between concept, material, and execution remains central. Art and design, at their most meaningful, sharpen perception rather than provide comfort. They invite reflection, slow down consumption, and resist emptiness. Creation, in this sense, is not only an act of making—but an act of awareness.
