Blurring the line between furniture and sculpture, Jason's designs are compositions in minimal and fluid forms, defined by proportion, and unrestrained by convention. His exploration of new manufacturing techniques pushes the limits of materials to form unexpected shapes.
Jason has a degree in Architecture from Pratt Institute in New York. His designs have been exhibited in Salone del Milano, Italy (SaloneSatellite 2014); Maison&Objet, Miami (2015); Westedge Design Fair, Los Angeles (2015, 2017, 2018); Architectural Digest Design Show, New York (2017); and London Design Fair (2019).
STATEMENT OF ART:Jason has a degree in Architecture from Pratt Institute in New York. Art and design have been more intertwined now than ever before, beyond merely influencing each other. Today, art is very much concerned about addressing and solving problems, from politics to the environment, than just purely aesthetic concerns. Yet, art can feel freer than design, without having to deal with any kind of restriction. With design, there are parameters that shape the output, to enable its function. There is usually a customer at the core of design, that art may not have to concern itself with. In my design practice, I'm always pushing that invisible boundary between art and design, to attain the perfect balance between form and function.
The challenge is how to let the art communicate to the viewer the same emotion that the artist is trying to convey. The same is true in designing furniture.
