Williams : I have been told that I am adventurous, a risk taker, and a self-starter. When I think of an idea, I make them into reality and then go travel to other states to share them with others. When I share my work, people immediately connect with it in a way that I’ve never thought was possible. Which is why I’ve decided to finally put my art into a book that will be the first of several that I plan on releasing in the future. I would say that my goal now is to bring more awareness to mental health and emotional intelligence with my art. I’ve noticed that not enough attention is brought to these subjects and I feel that by drawing characters with relatable expressions, which I feel is superior to the emojis that I see are often used to express emotions, would help put a different perspective on how everyone thinks about their feelings.
STATEMENT OF ART:The way that I see it, if you, or anyone, can create something that not only works but can also change people, then that is a good design. The beauty of it is that you can also create something with no intent of it being successful until you share and then you discover, much to your surprise, that not only do people love your work but they also want more. If and when that happens, you have to start thinking, “Ok. Why is this working so well? Because I wasn’t even thinking all that much when I made this, but people seem to love it! How to do keep the momentum going without letting it get stale?” Another great thing about art and design is that you can grab inspiration from your surroundings and then have them cater to people’s needs, may they be for essential or recreational use.
