Her designs mirroraseamless balance between nature and her perception of the worldshe explores and continues to traverse.Each design with significance in each detail, she ventures to endeavour thebringing of her designs from paper and poetry, to fabric and sculpture. Karina is inspired by observations of the world around her. Being down to earth and spiritual, as often seen in Karina’s designs inspired by nature; Karina wishes to ground and eliminate the superficiality and overconsumption that is prominent in the fashion industry. Through shifting society's mindset of fast fashion, she wishes to create a label that radiates her values about sustainability and the beauty of living.
Design is a language in which one can express to the world their visions. Design is art with a functional soul. I believe when art is worn one can be empowered.
Fashion is a form of expression! It can impact our mood and the way we feel about ourselves and the world around us! It can dictate how we go about our days, and it can record and reflect cultural, and personal growth. It is an international language we all share in common; with the freedom to speak and act with. It is miserly what I like to call, wearable art. A second skin which can be used as a form of change! As a designer, it is my duty to bring this art of change to life, from paper and poetry to fabric and sculpture; the aftermath is impact!

I am a 16 year old student currently enrolled in the IB diploma at Mulgrave School, Vancouver/Canada. My hopes are to enroll to Central Saint Martins in London, in two years!

COURSES, SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS::
I did an art course at Emily Carr University in Vancouver, for highschool students. I also did an architecture course, to design the entrance of the BC Hospital Cancer Center. This summer I plan on going to Central Saint Martins for a Fashion and Pattern Making Course, to develop my pattern making skills, as I have little experience in this field.
SYMPOSIUMS AND ACADEMIC CONFERENCES::
In school, I run a club in the hope to fund and bring Syrian Refugee families to Canada. Last year we brought a family with 2 babies and this year we hope to bring the rest of the extended family!
HOBBIES:
Design, Meditate, hike, Spend time with family and friends, write philosophies, in the form of poetry.
