About Tsang-Hsuan Lin : I am Tsang-Hsuan Lin, who trying to let people understand what contemporary jewelry is in Taiwan. STATEMENT OF ART:After staying under high temperature and pressure for a long period of timeand then with the help from natural conditions and circumstances suitable for formation, minerals become gems. As a result ofcrustal movements and a long cooling time, raw minerals wereproduced and combined to form various types of crystals, colors, and structures. Gems were formed with different colors because ofdifferent trace elementscontent, external environment and chemical compositions, and changes in the internal structures. Imagine the human body as the mini version of the earth and let the broken bits of minerals hidden under the ground stack freely and reach the surface of the earth. The squeezing of minerals causedfissures and producedgaps and unknown breaches. I combined metal blocks in different sizes together, and specifically chose the metals of hexagonal and octagonal pyramids to help the viewers associate their visual perceptions with minerals at the first sight;and enlargedthe size and made a shoulder ornament and brooch by adopting the form of pins. While this piece of workattached on a human body, visually it gives viewers an impression of a big mineral stone growing out of abody. When it isworn, viewers can still observe the body through it. I tried to re-examine the value of the precious through the electronic materialsthat wereavailable almost everywhere around us but were unnoticedor given little attention. I always thought precious things needed efforts and labors provided by all sorts of people andthings. A creation of an electronic component demands experiments and calculations with a long and complicated process. During the working process, the value of the preciousis shining and glowing.
