View Larger Image and Additional Photos of JungHee KimAbout JungHee Kim : Junghee Kim graduated from Kookmin University, Seoul, Korea in Metal Craft, holds a Master’s Degree in Metal Craft from Kookmin University. She completed Culture and Arts Program for CEO from Korea National University of Arts. She worked for Gemopia and Jewelry Park, top ranking Korean jewelry companies, as a head of design department. She is a numerous jewelry design awards winner including Korea Design Exhibition in 2004. Since she launched her own brand, PhoeBe, in 2001, she has reinvented the old into the modern and handcrafted beautiful pieces that can be admired beyond the time.
As meeting a beautifully fit ring seems to be more important than finding an appealing design, a designer should strive to search for and establish his/her own design identity. A designer meets the world through this tangible medium, design. A designer crafts a tangible language and further creates relationships. In short, a designer is a cultural communication complex itself. One must remember that gemstones themselves should not attract the entire attention.It is the design that should stand out against the supporters, gemstones. Therefore, considering the inseparable relationship between gemstones and design, I truly believe a designer is responsible to harmoniously craft them.
