About Birce Ozkan : Birce Ozkan is a wearable fashion technology and interactive designer based in New York. She studied international relations and business administration at Koc University in Istanbul and completed her MFA Design and Technology at Parsons School of Design in NY where she currently teaches Interactive Garments class. Her work and projects concentrate on discussing the interactivity on the body, combining fashion, technology, nature, and art. Her current focus is to create pieces of wearable technology that are inspired by nature and change in response to its environment. She believes that her new type of interactive fashion works opens new ways of creating wearable technology not just to serve a functional purpose, but also to create artistic, performative and expressive pieces. She recently curated Wearable Technology and Functional Garments Exhibition at SXSW SXstyle Austin,TX. She won best Wearable Technology Design Award in Fiber Arts at ISWC/Ubicomp Design Exhibition Osaka, Japan. She showcased her projects at ISWC Design Exhibition Osaka, Interlaced Fashion Tech Runway Show London, Make: Wearable on Runway Show at Javits Center NY and SXSW Austin TX 2016,2015. Her work has been published internationally in many prestigious publications including ISWC/Ubicomp, Observer, Fast Co Design, Dezeen, Designboom, PSFK, Ecouterre, StemplusD, Catalogo Diseno and Trendhunter.
