STATEMENT OF ART:
Salman works hard to develop himself as researcher, designer, and artist. In art and design he interested in practicing in Arabic Calligraphy Art practice, web design, and publications design. Internationally, Dr. Alhajri participated in many international exhibitions, workshops, and artistic activities. Presently he performs various art and design experiments using several approaches such as photography, painting, drawing, digital printmaking, and graphic design. In his art/design Salman seeks to communicate with others in a variety of different mediums and techniques. The most important elements in his art are; creativity, color harmony, simplicity, and attractive compositions. Salman have developed a unique styles in Arabic calligraphy. In this art stream, is accepted and appreciated highly in developed and western countries, such as The UK or Taiwan, but was not the case in Arab countries (e.g. Oman). The author here enquires about the reasons of this situation. It is because Omani people are ignorance or not really aware of the modern trends in Art, if this is the case, what researcher or educated artist, who practice this type of art, can offer to educate people and raise their awareness. Omani artists are fascinated by the art forms of Arabic calligraphy, which combine both spiritual meaning and aesthetic beauty. Artist Salman Alhajri is an example of a contemporary Arabic artist who uses Arabic calligraphy as the main theme in his art. Dr. Alhajri is trying to introduce the beauty of Arabic letters from a new aesthetic point of view. He also aims to create unusual visual effects that viewers can easily interact with. Even though words and phrases appear in Alhajri’s artwork, they are not conveying direct meanings: viewers can create their own meaning or expressions from them by appreciating the compositions of the artwork.
