Interview with Seyed Mojtaba Rouhani at Monday 29th of July 2019 ![]() FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? SMR: I have bachelors degree in graphic design field, I worked as a graphic designer for almost 7 years after I graduated,now I work as an art director and creative manager in an advertising agency. When I was 16 years old I went to my cousin's office which was an advertising design office and that was my first time which I had the chance to see how they really work and since that day I got really interested in design. FS: What is "design" for you? SMR: Design is a way to obviate in my perspective. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? SMR: Lighting and Furniture are my favorite. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? SMR: When I was 18 I designed a logo for an IT company. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? SMR: I try to focus on the concept of the design and the external look of it. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? SMR: I feel really happy that my design has the influence that I wanted on a second person. FS: What makes a design successful? SMR: I believe that the true understanding of the audience and creation and knowing the suitable materials and executive techniques can make a design successful. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? SMR: Innovation, beauty and being practical are important aspects. FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? SMR: A designer can aware the society about the daily issues, resolve their needs and update their taste for design and by using the environment friendly materials can prevent the natural harms. FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? SMR: My golden rule is the connection with concepts. FS: What skills are most important for a designer? SMR: Drawing,how to use the related softwares and the skill of how to connect with concepts and understanding the needs of your audience are the most important skills for a designers I believe.
