Interview with Lin Wei

Home > Designer Interviews > Lin Wei

Editor Frank Scott (FS) from DesignPRWire has interviewed designer Lin Wei (LW) for A’ Design Awards and Competition. You can access the full profile of Lin Wei by clicking here.

Interview with Lin Wei at Friday 22nd of April 2016
Lin Wei
FS: What is "design" for you?
LW: Design is not an output. It is a way of thinking. Design is a way of life, it is and should be accessible to everyone, and everyone should be able to find joy and fulfilment in it.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
LW: Joy.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
LW: Pride. Like a parent when a child does well.

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
LW: There are a thousand and one ways to look pretty. Whether the design is effective is ultimately decided by the target audience, the end users.

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
LW: To provide solutions first and foremost. On a higher level, to influence society at large with progressive values.

FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
LW: Design comes to me wholly formed in my mind.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
