DESIGN NAME: Blue Sky
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential
INSPIRATION: Since the area of this project is surrounded by the sea, the design team chose Turkish blue color to symbolize the vast, all relaxing ocean, as the main visual concept of the space. The design uses oblique shaped wall to light wash the surface beneath, indirectly illuminate the concrete board with the original industrial style, and cleverly combining different materials. A contrast mustard yellow sofa and melanin board, bring out the details of the entire design concept.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Located in Taichung City, where the climate is pleasant throughout the four seasons; and modern and traditional elements are beautifully harmonized. The design style for this project also regionally matches with the local preference, by having clear theme and style distinctions. The main direction of Turkish blue color brings out a clear industrial style. The materials selection also creates a space with rough, brushed, yet simple and relaxing personality.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: In response to the client needs, the original TV back wall was structurally removed, and being replaced by an open partition wall that composed of half glass and half cultural stone. Deconstruct the originally closed space with transparent and low-profile wall. The study rooms door can be fully opened 180 degrees, and is installed with special louvers to connect the continuity of the space and enlarge the overall space experience.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2017 and finished in June 2017 in Taichong, Taipei.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In order to meet the light and luxurious industrial style as the clients expectation, the designer used a very flexible melanin board as the material of the door panels and storage cabinets and some iron mesh to create spatial details; while in the public area, uses concrete panels and stones to add some earthy character. The wall of the master bedroom is covered with Malaysian paint that feels like a concrete panting. In the simplest and not excessive way, that at the same time beautifies and creates a living space with loved ones.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Even in a limited space of master bedroom, the maximum number of storage is created. The design team flexibly uses the perpendicularity of the bedroom corner and finds woodworkers to create a customized storage wardrobe. Adjacent the bedside cabinet, there is also a dressing space with a combination of desks and cabinets. In a limited bedroom, the design must be able to maximize the life efficiency.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This project is a luxurious industrial style residence in Taichung, with deep Turkish blue color and original concrete board to create an open, free, but restrained personality. The semi open cultural stone TV wall in the living room is equipped with iron mesh and wood grain. The luxurious melanin panel and the Malaysian paint with concrete effect, echo the industrial style design core inside and outside. The cleverly match woodwork, make the master bedroom wardrobe with a beveled design wall and large amount of storage, combining the clients living needs with the design style.
CHALLENGE: The open dining area is different from the common style. The design team purposely combined the island table with the wall and the hidden electrical cabinet to change the in and out line of the stove, and extend the shoe cabinet. It is not only simplifies the procedure in the construction process but also strengthens the tension of visual effects. With Turkish blue cabinets and strip lights, island style table brings out the personality and high functionality.
