| DESIGN NAME: Glimpse PRIMARY FUNCTION: Side Table INSPIRATION: The design of Glimpse was inspired by cross section plated products. Keeping the focus on simplicity, parts used in the product was minimized. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: ''Glimpse '' is a reflection of an organic form in small sections. It has a special aesthetic with organic form and minimalist design. Despite its complex looking form its easy to manufacture. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Glimpse is a side table and you can place it either side of the sitting units by flipping the tempered glass. A concave slope was given to the form of the glass in order to maintain easy access to the table from a sitting position in a sofa PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: October 2019-December 2019 / Ankara/ Turkey FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The materials to be used will be woodand tempered glass. Wooden parts will be produced by CNC router. Silicone dots will be attached to the wooden parts to prevent slipping the tempered glass. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 533x662x575 mm TAGS: Side table, coffee table, modern design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Prior to the design, a thorough research was performed on existing furniture in the market place, production techniques of the material used and interviewed fifty users of such furnitures to understand pleasure and pain points. Several manufacturers were visited to ensure simplicity of production CHALLENGE: The main challenge in this design was to solve structural difficulties with the purpose of minimizing the usage of body parts whilst supporting its structure without using any other material than its fluid form.
