| DESIGN NAME: Luminada PRIMARY FUNCTION: Wall Lamp INSPIRATION: In the great masterpiece written by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nature, he writes: We ascribe beauty to that which has no superfluous parts; which exactly answers its end; which stands related to all things. Just like in nature, the beauty of an object is in its simplicity, in how it achieves its essential function. So, Luminada looks for a new geometrical form, simple, clean lines, easy to build and with clarity of purpose. A modern lighting system which could attach architectural depth to the modern house. Luminada illuminate without any visible fastener or weld, giving a clean finished aesthetic. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A simplest way for housing a LED light. Standard materials: All components are of standard and ecological materials, aluminium extruded profile and glass sheets. Manufacture: Just cut and drill rectangular aluminum profile 100 mm width, 50 mm height and 2.5 mm thickness and cut a glass sheet 3 mm thick. Versatility: Size, finishing, power lighting can be customized in accordance with the requirements of the rooms where it will be install. Luminada can be installed in different positions OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The particular design of the mounting plate allows it to be installed onto a standard octagonal J box. After fasten the mounting plate in the J box, Luminada can be installed in the mounting plate fixing system. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: After the will to create a special new object for lighting, the process begun with drafts, a lot of drafts, and then go ahead with this one, which was refined for technical purpose. With this in the CNC milling machine, cut the aluminium profile and the glass sheet, so, put it all together and was fixed the flexible LED strip and its drivers. It was born Luminada. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Height: 2.28 meters Width: 0.85 meters Depth: 0.12 meters TAGS: Lighting, lighting design, Led lighting, wall lighting, Brazilian lighting design, modern lighting. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research was conducted to employ recyclables materials for frame and lens, in order to obtain a homogenous composition, with a minimum impact also in the manufacturing process. In this way, aluminum, as the most abundant metal in the earth and glass, are the best materials to be employed in a lighting object. In this way, the impact of the materials and of the production of the lamp is at the minimum level. It uses flexible LED strip instead of LED’s bulb, thinking in future disposal at the end life light. So, the result was an ecological lamp with minimum impact to the environment. CHALLENGE: The challenge was not only developing a new lighting with non-visible fasteners and new technologies, the real challenge was to do this with standard materials and easy and chip manufacturing process with the mind in maintenance, longest lifetime and, obviously, an aesthetical beautiful piece.
