| DESIGN NAME: Hermit Huts PRIMARY FUNCTION: Resort Hotel INSPIRATION: The design was inspired by the most common thatched huts in the mountains of western China in ancient times, hence the project theme was named "Maoshe" (also refers to thatched hut). The design idea of this project is to regard the time label and cultural symbol as the design elements to create the space and time environment of the traditional small mountain villages, as well as the psychological state far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, so that users can gain maximum inner peace. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project is a short-term rental resort hotel built in the mountains, with a very beautiful mountain scenery for users to travel, or use on vacation. The owner hopes that users can enjoy the natural environment in the mountains to the greatest extent and create a mood and life experience away from the city. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Architectural space conveys a kind of leisure experience away from city and return to nature. Designers adopt three-dimensional design method according to mountain natural slope to carefully handle the relationship between main space and the surrounding environment, so that hillside, trees and buildings are harmoniously merged and stacked. Seen from outside, the building is almost consistent with the mountain, after entering the users can enjoy a spacious living space with an independent garden. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was launched in Chongqing in May 2018, completed in Chongqing in October 2018, and officially opened at the end of October 2018. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The designers regard time label and cultural symbol as design elements to create a unique and relaxing space environment: Firstly, the building exterior adopts the typical thatched hut structure of a hundred years ago. In terms of time, it creates a feeling of being away from the modern city for the user. Secondly, all the interior furniture and accessories are made of old wood, which is manufactured by traditional craftsmanship, allowing users to experience a more pure old-age living environment. Thirdly, in Chinese traditional culture, there is a hermit culture, which represents an attitude of life to leave the city and pursue inner peace. The designer intends to create such a psychological feeling of living in seclusion in the mountains for users. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The total area of the ten rooms is 470 square meters. TAGS: Interior design, short-term rental hotel, retro building, handmade furniture, moisture proof, traditional Chinese craft RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The project regards time label and cultural symbol as design elements to create a quiet environment. The short-term resort hotel room makes people keep inner peace. The project has solved the problem of dampness and lack of lighting caused by the buildings that is close to the mountain and arranged in a line. The designers applied three-dimensional design approach to deal with the relationship between garden, terrace, and indoor living space. The designers extensively used old wood to make interior furnishings in the whole design. CHALLENGE: All furniture and woodwork in the project are made on site using old wood, there are high requirements on traditional production process and techniques. It is necessary to find a group of experienced traditional craftsmen to complete work on site. During indoor construction, large-scale mechanical equipment cannot be used for hoisting. Therefore, original oak with a diameter of 30cm-40cm in some rooms were manually hoisted, greatly increasing the construction difficulty and manufacturing period. The project mainly provides taste and touch experience such as catering, accommodation and leisure, and provide consumers with high-end quality services. The brand mainly relies on the original natural environment as the background. It provides beautiful environment of the original ecology and experience environment of the original ecology, and aims to provide consumers with the most natural and elegant leisure environment. Therefore, when designing, designers mostly use original building materials to create a natural and elegant accommodation environment relying on natural landforms. The purpose is to provide consumers with a living experience integrated with nature that consumers can view the mountains from a distance and see closely the trees and to let each consumer feel the original ecology and sense of story for each architectural element during the consumption experience. |
