DESIGN NAME: Save Me From
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Targeted Haircare Masks
INSPIRATION: After losing her sister to suicide, founder April Peck trained in suicide prevention and vowed to save others. Knowing hair improves self image and empowerment, she identified six types of hair breakage. M S L K worked with April to correct these conditions with user-friendly product concepts that would save consumers’ hair from the root source of damage, i.e., chemicals, pollution, thermal devices, etc. Customers unbox the product by tearing out a zip strip that removes the source of damage.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Save Me From is a category busting, damage specific, Tip to Root Hair Reboot targeting six sources of hair damage and treating the scalp, cuticle, cortex, and cell membrane complex. The brand’s founder discovered fenugreek seed, an ancient ingredient for hair and scalp, then harnessed its powers to create Fenugen. All products contain Fenugen in addition to a unique blend of natural ingredients sourced from all over the world.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Save Me From’s packaging is fun, thoughtful and convenient. With each of the six sources of hair damage represented on the packaging box, part of the unboxing experience for consumers is tearing away the damage, revealing the product within. The bottle’s airless, one-touch application allows precise dosing and hygienic access without contaminating the product.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2017 with teams in New York, LA, and Seattle. Final packaging was released for production in early 2019 and the brand launched at Cosmoprof North America in July 2019.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Our creative, sales, and marketing teams began with a competitive audit of the hair treatment market. Then we combined this research with analysis of the haircare market via sales and trend reports to uncover market white space. Qualitative testing provided feedback from our target audience on brand positioning, products, and target price point. We then finalized a sales and distribution plan outlining the cost of goods and packaging components.
CHALLENGE: Our assignment was to launch a haircare line with a limited product range to start, but with long-term plans for product expansion. Our solution was to develop a product assortment that compliments a person’s existing haircare regimen rather than competes with it. As a result, the concept of a damage-specific Tip to Root Hair Reboot was born.
