| DESIGN NAME: Huazhu PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sales Center INSPIRATION: The use of glass walls give a full view of the courtyard landscape. As the design of the interior space aims to create a relaxing environment for visitors where they can enjoy art, materials with relaxing and soothing texture are chosen so visitors could immerse themselves in art while enjoying the beautiful scenery outside the window. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: For the layout, besides negotiation and office areas which are necessary for a sales center, extra areas for blog lecture, tea, and reading were specifically designed to enrich cultural experience of the space. This turns the process of visiting the sales center and enjoying the art into spiritual enjoyment; in addition to being a courtyard, it is a veritable art gallery. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Chinese-style interior design is decorated with a crane sculpture; the art corridor is built by piling up countless books; the decoration of flying birds over the model area are derive from the old saying “birds return to their nests”; all these applications of traditional culture enhance humanistic feelings of the space. Chinese colors are used extensively in the interior: the warm brown of the nature texture of the reception area comes from the rocks in the landscape painting, while the metal color comes from the colors of the best silk of Jiangsu and Zhejiang; the cobalt blue on the art installation and the blue glaze used in the office area all come from the traditional Oriental color spectrum. These colors not only make the atmosphere more dynamic and gorgeous, they enhance the sense of quality of the space. This turns the process of visiting the sales center and enjoying the art into spiritual enjoyment, thus weaken the original function of the space. Such shift of functions makes the building which was originally a sales center becomes different; in addition to being a courtyard, it is a veritable art gallery. CHALLENGE: This design redefined the functions of “the sales center, while serving the purpose of sales in the early stage, the sales center was planned into a future art gallery which will serve as part of the supporting facilities for the residence. Chinese colors are used extensively in the interior, they enhance the sense of quality of the space.
