RESEARCH ABSTRACT: From the entrance, the interior presented a series of layered vista of the various interior spaces complemented by decorative elements echoing with the Japanese Zen-Style aesthetic influences. While the public domain featured a warm Nordic-influenced materiality, the bedrooms were of simple timber and humble and elegant design theme, with walk-in closet, coupled with complete storage functions, for creating a refreshing and stress-free space.
CHALLENGE: As the dining area features genuine cedar in the ceiling that echos with timber flooring, it allows the cedar aroma drawing out the natural timber aroma. During construction, cedar ceiling panels need to be installed separately before drilling for wiring, therefore it left little room for error for the on-site craftsmen, however, after construction completion, it was the most rewarding creative experience.
