| DESIGN NAME: Camillet PRIMARY FUNCTION: High Fashion Dress INSPIRATION: One of the main goals was to stay inspired by the native Caribbean history and maintain a youthful and universal appearance. This project promotes an unique and artistic vision of the contemporary preservation of the environmental. Is a product of feminine elegance that also promotes a message in the spectators and can be used as a reference for new generations. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Camillet is a fashion and style project. Its' design is a modern women's dress that includes a distinctive design and characteristics of elaboration and confection making it a peculiar and innovative manual work in the production process. This unique project was completed through a process of artisan techniques where the creation of textile was emphasized through embroidery techniques and a natural method of construction. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The role of the Camillet proposal is to reflect status and purchasing power. It also allows to dress those parts of the body that the designer wishes to highlight in the female silhouette while being influenced by the culture and building materials. In contrast, clothing protects the person and allows them to keep a unique and attractive look for a special occasion. Beyond these functions, the Camillet dress also has symbolic values and purpose to spread a message of environmental preservation. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Camillet project started in June 2019 in Jayuya Puerto Rico and finished in September 2019 in Coamo Puerto Rico. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Camillet is a product that was made with embroidery techniques. The upper part of the dress was made with ixtle plant called "agave lechuguilla" worked to a spin while still raw. The lower part of the suit was worked in golden Chenille fabric to highlight the embroidery of the dress. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 1473.2mm Length x 533.4mm Width x 2006.6mm Depth TAGS: XAR, Fashion Designer, Artisan, Embroidery, Camillet RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Camillet is focused on the collection of natural fibers and the process of braiding. The results were positive and effective incorporating the corduroy. Getting the expected quality that I decided to accomplished. The goal is to impact and encourage the use of materials and textiles in the field of fashion and create new awareness and trends. The final products are extraordinary and it is due to the preparation and elaboration of the handmade on highlighting the raw material of the earth and the native artisan techniques of my culture. CHALLENGE: The most difficult part of the elaboration of the dress was the making of the braids, the length and the sewing by hand in the corset. The braids had to have the same thickness and design to achieve a perfect and natural impression. Therefore, the braids had to be meticulously prepared multiple times to achieve the desired visual impact. NAME: Xavier Alexis Rosado PROFILE: I would like to introduce Xavier Alexis Rosado; He is a leading designer having graduated with honors from Miami International University of Arts & Design AI, where he successfully completes his Bachelor’s of Art in Fashion Design. He also finished his Associate Degree in Applied Science in Fashion Design at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico where he also graduated with honors. Currently, Xavier’s vision is to make an impactful and lasting contribution to the Department of Education in Puerto Rico as a Fashion Design professor. |
