| DESIGN NAME: Suite Stool PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mutifunctional Stool INSPIRATION: Nowadays, it esay to design huge things.However, Albert found that not everybody have space to place those huge products. And more and more people in China have to live in small room, who are pretty hard to have big furniture. What designers should design as a designer is to design things in a smart way while solving the main problem.Therefore, Albert design this new kind of stool to ensure that people have more place for other things. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Among the modern furniture stacked up to save space,most of them save space while wasting. To solve the issue of space and multifunction for consumers, Albert designed the three stools which can be used sepa-rately or as a whole,meanwhile, any two of the stools are able to combine to be used by one people or more. Based on manufacture and installation considerations, the stools have a compact shape for flat packaging and quick assembly. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The users can use this stool as a whole, or as three chairs. All users need to do is to pull out the stool and it can be separated to three parts. And they can combine any of the two stools to have a new stool, which make it available for one or two or three people to sit. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2018 in Shanghai and finished in January 2019 in Shanghai, and was exhibited in 'Design Shanghai' in March 2019. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The material is plywood, which provide very strong support for the stool. And the three stool is made of a 1.2 meter in width and 2.4 meter in length wood block. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 500mm*400mm*450mm TAGS: Chair, Stool, Multifunctional, Furniture RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Albert do a research among the famous chair and the new chair in the market. And Albert learn something from the old style chairs and he appreciate the chair that can be easily moved to another place as well as save space. As we know, in some area in China, the house is so experience for the young people. Therefore, Albert design Suite Stool to save place. CHALLENGE: It is so hard for designers to design a way to combine three chairs as one. The most common chair in the market in not suitable to fold. And he find the structure he used is a smart way to combine chairs, however, it may not as comfortable as users think it is. Therefore, Albert measured the distance of the small piece and do lots of experiment to find a balance between structure and user experience.
