PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Bike Carrier

INSPIRATION:
In recent years, transporting bicycles to outdoor locations for riding has fast become a global recreational activity, however, the general consensus is that the current tow style mounting rack has featured stability and convenience issues, in terms of installation and general usage, therefore, this design features functions strengthened and improved version of the existing tow style mounting rack.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
With consideration in user-oriented and ergonomic design, EAZZY2 utilizes design features such as quick snap on system and rapid folding, rapid leaning and rapid fastening, etc., so as to allow users to safely and conveniently mount bicycles on cars for transportation to the desirable destinations. Also, through material innovation, product structure is of lightweight design in optimizing the performance and quality of the mounting rack while achieving sustainable objectives.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The trimming of the steel tube of this product was all done off-site with powder coating techniques so as to eradicate hazardous powder dust during the coating process, while the coating layer is solidified in high temperature oven with low power consumption without producing pollution.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project was completed in September, 2018 in Taichung City, Taiwan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
This product can be used in loading usage of bicycles of various styling and dimensions, and can be loaded with 2 bicycles at a time. With the patented structure of Rapid Snap Tow Ball System, users can rapidly secure and fasten with a simple snap up step in completing the installation and disassembly of the bicycle rack. The main materials include steel and plastic.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Gross Weight of 11.6 kg, Maximum Loading Weight of 40 kg, width x depth x height-113 x 57.5 x 70 cm (measured from the centre of the tow ball mount to the outside edge of the number plate holder).

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
For convenience and stability of rack installation, EAZZY2 offers the following design features, (1) Welded by robotic arms, it increases the rigidity, decreases vibration and noise during transportation. (2) Through leaning design, it allows users to open the back boot without dismounting the rack. (3)Embedded handle design for easy rack installation. (4)Added U shape Guide Rail to allow users to easily load up and dismount bicycles. (5) Rack with wheels for easy storage

CHALLENGE:
The biggest challenge originates from the design of lean and spin without tools, so as to facilitate the easy opening of the hatchback door of SUV, therefore, there were a lot of design effort going into the rapid snap and lock down functions.
