| DESIGN NAME: Balance PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Interior Design INSPIRATION: The target client is a married couple of young entrepreneurs, who pay great attention on the space convenience and storage utilization when considering their new home. To accommodate their busy and well-executed living style, the designer devotes himself to create a spacious artwork in light industrial style, which is focused on functional and practical space with style and beauty. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: There is no barrier between living room and library. In between a U shape wood decoration panel extends to the ceiling from the wall of this area. Two goal has been achieved: 1. hide beam; 2. create invisible division between the two areas. Moreover, the design to unify sofa and desk creates not only a more spacious visual effect but also a living with various appearance. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This project is focused on balance. The form lines follow a scaling principle of modern space design, composed of the beauty of stableness and the quality of being sedated. The open public area includes a dining room and living room, to create an arrangement of circulation that allows people to walk under lights and shadows, a more spacious visual effect that receives much sunlight. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: project is located in Taipei, Taiwan, started in January, 2019 and completed in March, 2019. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Wood texture is selected as the key visual design of the space elevations and it is focused on balance. The television wall, made of deep gray natural slate, looks lively with its gradient irregular arrangement and twill. The deep gray of natural slate collocates with the wood of walls, exhibiting interesting contrasts of both color temperature and texture. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: There is no barrier between living room and library. The U shaped wood decoration panel creates extension to the ceiling from the wall. Two goals have been achieved: 1. to hide the crossbeam; 2. to create an invisible division between the two areas. Moreover, the design to unify the sofa and the desk creates not only a more spacious visual effect but also a lifestyle with multiple functional appearances. TAGS: Balance, open public area, U shape wood introduction line, hide crossbeam, wood cabinet as visual key, industrial living RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The arrangement of the storage is plural. The designer utilizes the cabinet as a division of many areas in order to increase storage space and streamline the traffic flow. He also collocates warm wood color with industrial cold black gray, adds a three-dimensional pattern on the wood surfaces with black flames, as well as presenting an energetic appearance with irregular blocks. CHALLENGE: The U shaped wood decoration panel creates extension to the ceiling from the wall. The opposite wall is made of mirror, therefore, it create not only a more spacious visual effect but also a function of arranging appearance. NAME: Alex Tsai PROFILE: Space is like a gift for the owner of a house. The process of walking into the delight of senses, which was presented through the well arranged interior design is like the process untightening the ribbon wrapped outside the gift box. It pleases one's mind and body with unspeakable surprise. In the pursuit of design, the designer always strives to elicit emotional warmth as an attempt to make a connection with an owner’s experience. Warmth does not have to come from the afternoon sun. It can be from attention to simplicity and comfort. Without deliberate publicity, energy can be aroused by the mere appreciation of the beauty of life. The designer started from scratch and worked from scratch to build up my business. Initially, his company started from the marketing side of the construction company. Gradually, he started to get involved in interior design while he realized the importance of aesthetics to human life, and felt eager to amplify the social demand for beauty. Alex held important positions at the trade union and the Lions Club. He volunteered to help police officer to give back to the needs of society. As a designer, Alex, loves to give back to society just as he loves design because he knows that he can assist. Designer's goal is to pay more attention to owners’ needs and visions, allowing them to feel a sense of participation. When owners imprint their own ideas into the design, that emotional warmth will connect them into every corner of the space. For Alex, design is a must-have value for solving needs. When he uses design expertise on Interior Design to solve problem for customers, he feels that it it the warmest and the most romantic thing in the world. Art transforms classics into aesthetics, and design transforms aesthetics into applications in living. The two are balanced. Design is the art of calculation. The science of design makes aesthetics an application tool with a more humane attitude and makes human life better. |
