| DESIGN NAME: Space of Light PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residence INSPIRATION: Much like many contemporary museums, designers deliberately weakened external stimulation for the mind and soul while creating flowing sense of tranquility, as such spatial influx formed by light and shadow leads inhabitants into a ritual of reflection and meditation that sharpens their perception and the awareness of oneself. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design of space is the design of light, as it sculpts the luminous volume while designers construct the spatial and sequential layering with precision OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Contrary to the convention technique of concealing structural elements in ceiling design, with much study of the variance of light and shadow, the beam height was altered to extend light and shadow to form pristine lines on the walls which adds dimensions to a cool tone space. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Building materials: special paint, environmental-friend SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The interior area is 354 square meters. TAGS: Blank, Contemporary Aesthetics, Light And Shadow, Purity, Minimalism RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Dwelling is not only a shelter from the elements but also a distilled essence of the notion of living, therefore, in fulfilling the aesthetic and spiritual pursuit of the occupant, a graphic designer, the design team chose to inject large area of white color to bring relief to any sense of oppression while the timber flooring unifies the overall line work so that amongst the play of light and shadow, there is a sense of warmth balancing the aesthetics and the living programs. CHALLENGE: Considering the aesthetic taste and professionalism of the client, the design theme originated from the concept of gallery where the presence of furniture and artwork collection give rise to the visual extension and continuity, such as the seamless corridor accentuated the pristine quality of the design circulation scheme.
