DESIGN NAME: Happy Hour
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Spinning bike room
INSPIRATION: The interaction of neon lights and circular mirrors gives the space psychedelic and visually infinite effects. To create an architectural aesthetics, we combine visual arts with geometric element. Users can enjoy riding spinning bikes with the rhythm in this space.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Happy Hour is a spinning bike room with a capacity of 25 people. It is a narrow rectangle space so we use geometric circular mirrors to create infinite visual effects, extending the space through the reflection of mirrors and make this limited space unlimited. This project is mainly designed to express the aesthetics of the space and create visual and auditory interaction.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: We designed a creative lightning-shaped sign on the wall at the entrance, symbolizing the strength that athletes need. We built a glass wall to distinguish between the seating area and the exercise area, and use lighting to create the sense of psychedelic effects. In the exercise area, circular mirrors reflect the interaction between the neon lights and the geometric space, allowing users to enjoy the visual and auditory sensory experience while cycling.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2018 and finished in November 2018 in New Taipei city, Taiwan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The materials used in this project are very simple, some of which are recovered and utilized. The main materials are mirrors and old ceilings. We painted the old light steel frame structure in black and used diffuser plates to brighten the indoor environment, combining eco-friendly dark blue paint with neon lights to create a psychedelic atmosphere.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This is a traditional Taiwanese narrow space with an area of only 92 square meters. In order to reduce the oppression of space, we use circular mirrors with diameters of 150 cm to create a space extension through the reflection of mirrors.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We actually experienced the process of spinning bike teaching, including soft melody and heavy metal music. We hope that the exercising process can have different sensory experiences through different lighting effects.
CHALLENGE: Due to the fact that this is a narrowly limited space, it would only reflect a chaotic space if we used glass surrounding the wall. Conversely, the geometric circular mirror increases the aesthetics of this space and makes it unlimited which is the spatial strategy to deal with the narrow problem.
