PRIMARY FUNCTION: Food and Beverage
INSPIRATION: Designer dreamt that he fell into a black hole and was trapped into a Memorigin watch.Here he enjoyed untold wealth and high honour in a realm of fantasy.The sophisticated mechanism is the key project concept.As the watch mechanism consists of different components which all of a watch can only work smoothly with engaging cogwheels, turning each other to rotate in different directions.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Teawood Deluxe began to appear when it magically encounters Hong Kong Watches Brand Memorigin. Since Memorigin frequently holds product launch in this restaurant, the design style of this teawood restaurant needs to be different from other leisure-oriented branches, more romantically mysterious and extravagant.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The main goal of embedded interaction is to make good use of giant scale of ceiling design and make guests feel like being in the watch, in order to achieve Telling story through interior design. Our design also carefully divides the VIP and the general services lines which are coexisting, but not contradicting.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2018 in Hong Kong K-11 and finished in April 2019 in Hong Kong K-11.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: A large luminous clock in the center of the ceiling, accompanied by two giant cogwheels which are made of wood and metal.The ceiling lighting system is higher than general restaurants light system to match different occasion needs. Apart from the ceiling clock that put movable Roman Numeral Screens on walls and those screens can be opened and functioned as backdrops which are beautiful and changeable also practical.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research Objective is to examine how to keep balance and changes at the same time. We considered adding more flexible and variable elements to the established restaurant design, for the sake of matching different occasions needs. As a restaurant, design has to be sustainable; as an event hosting venue, design has to be variable. There is a need to show two brands characteristics as well.
CHALLENGE: Apart from achieving balance, sustainability and variations, there are more challenges.
Clients discovered the following unexpected problems but we tackled all the difficulties with making good use of our professional knowledge and skills. There is a big air duct beside the ceiling clock. Our solution is to turn it into our selling point by hiding the big air duct behind two cogwheels, which matches our restaurant theme. The ceiling of VIP rooms is as low as 2150mm, thus we designed it as curved shape, in order to make the design more unique and reduce special pressure.
