| DESIGN NAME: On Yasai PRIMARY FUNCTION: Food and Beverage INSPIRATION: Meet in blossom is the design concept inspired by personal travel experience in Japan when seeing a cherry blossom tree blooming outside a traditional teahouse. He could still always witness the Japanese historical romance when the petals fell down and flied in the wind. He reproduced this unforgettable classic scene in reality Taikoo Shing branch in Hong Kong which makes a big contrast to modern shopping mall and make diners feel this sudden moment. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: On Yasai is Japanese Number 1 Shabu Shabu Specialist brand. Brand name provides symbolic meaning of warm vegetables and excellent services that warm customers hearts. Such central idea became the starting point to help create a hit and cozy restaurant with warm color tones and unique installation arts. Guests will never be tired of seeing the interior design. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: In order to facilitate smooth service process, designers carefully considered and arranged seats positions and the dimensions of corridors. Increasing interactions between guests and restaurant is another goal. Several sets of Japanese Sake display cabinets are put in different directions around the main door. Guests could freely walk around and choose their favorite wine which differs from traditional display method. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Light oak color is chosen and walls are painted with stripes, cherry blossoms of different sizes and gray bricks to highlight Japanese architectures feature.Thousands of Japanese Tea Whisk in unique shape and textures is put up with ambient lighting.Ancient Japanese style wallpaper with mosaic patterns is hung on theme wall. In the three dimensional display that it will not increase the sense of oppression but reduce the space of the walkway by highlighting penetration, light and shadow effects that in line with the restaurant operation angle and achieving balance on both sides. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 3,200 square feet TAGS: Japanese Modern mix Traditional, Warm, Bright, Tea Whisk Art RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research objective is to examine ways to display cherry blossoms dynamics. During the design process, it is necessary to find the most perfect way to find the perfect transparency level and stable Japanese Whisk as unprecedented installation art. In addition, we had to study ways to prevent condensation and mold from growing on all wood and bamboo decorations in a Shabu Shabu restaurant. CHALLENGE: There is a large triangular area and a fire gate near to the main entrance. No seats shall be placed in such area. Thus, several sets of Japanese Sake display cabinets of different sizes are put in different angles, in order to solve this problem and enhance practicability. Another is that the restaurant ceiling is not high enough so the styles of the frames, ceiling device and chandeliers are decorated with slender strips, in order to reduce the sense of oppression and enhance visual perception and provide a comfortable dining experience.
