DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Thread Spool Side Table

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Side Table

INSPIRATION:
The Art and design object is the result of understanding the Clients emotion about his childhood experience of fabricating his own toys back on the 1940-50’s era and researching the history of traditional Guatemalan toys. During post war era, kids would utilize residual packaging materials such as glass, wood spools, and wood pencils to create yoyos, spinners and ring & pin. The client’s narrative on how he produce a variation of the ring and pin toy ignited the idea of conceptualizing the memory. The construction was clever, kids will use a sharp broken piece of glass to bore a hole in the wood thread spool then pass a short string thru the spool and attached to a wood stick that usually was an old school pencil. The Design combines characteristics of three main toys, yoyo, ring & pin and spinner. From the Spinner we captured the subtle movement of the object spinning on it vertical axes. For the table top and floor base we captured the circular shape of the yoyo rotating on its axes thru space. Finally from the Ring-Pin we took the shape of the Wood threads Spool.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
A unique approach to functional Art by commission generated Carrete side table. Carrete is an Art- Design object with a masterfully way to conceptualize a single memory. it captures and regenerates the client’s childhood memories of producing his own kinetic toys, from wood sewing thread Spool. The side table has a modern and sophisticated appearance generated by a well-balanced composition of Color and Volume. The Dynamic design integrates well with contemporary and classical style’s decoration. The object moves away from traditional custom furniture and creates a fantastic Functional Art collectable.

NAME:
Fabrizio Constanza Design

PROFILE:
Fabrizio Constanza is an observer of life. His inspiration comes from emotions generated by existence. By watching life passing by, from reflections of the world, past nostalgia and future cues, Fabrizio captures and materialize emotions into objects. A clear example is 0710 Oxbow, based on the 2013 Baltimore derby winner. Objects become transmitters of emotions. A table that elegantly represents the human body named Organica, or a coat stand with slick curves for the corporate world, simply known as Lande, are exquisite examples.
