| DESIGN NAME: Anutham PRIMARY FUNCTION: Boutique Hotal INSPIRATION: Anutham is designed specifically for its banquet halls since they bring in the maximum revenue of any hotel. Anutham features a large double height banquet of 1200 Sq.mt along with a lawn of 1000 sq.mt a 2nd banquet on the 2nd floor of about 600 sq.mt and 500 sq.mt of terrace, 25 rooms and two restaurants Rumors and roofjar. The project was designed to be such that it becomes a talk of the town and an aspirational space for the people of the city to hold their functions in these banquets. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Anutham, means unique in sanskrit, the name forms the inspiration for this design which is evolved in grandeur, which was also a necessity. Located in a small city of jammu in inida, the space had to present itself as a high end space for banquet functions. the rroms have been designed to provide all comforts of a 5 star hotel and the two supporting restaurants in the property were designed to become the talk of the town. The opulence of the interiors and the relative spaces provided everywhere set this project apart. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Guest enters in to a double height lobby that gives the first feel of the opulent interiors inside. the lobby leads to the main banquet hall titled mirrors. and to the lift lobby that takes the guest on to other floors. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was started in January 2016 and completed in november 2018. Anutham is located on Kunjwani Bypass road, Jammu, India. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The entire project was designed to be extravagant spaces. The two banquets in the property have been theme designed, the ground floor banquet uses a lot of mirrors on the wall and the ceiling to amplify the space. The first floor banquet attached with a large errace has been themed to be a an open area feel with tensile structured umbrellas on the terrace. The 3rd and the 4th floor comprise of 25 room with a common activity room in the centre. The fourth floor is a restaurant, that uses a lot raw wood finishes and container gates for elements. the terrace is a open roof top restaurant. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The total project area is 5000 Sq.mt. TAGS: Hotel, jammu, anutham, rumors, roofjar, restaurant, bar. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: we conducted a city wide survey of Jammu city to understand the current architectural and interior design trends in the city. Basis the survey it was found that a very mixed bag options is what is being constructed which is more of a copy of what is being constructed in larger metropolitan cities of India. Basis this finding we arrived at a concept of thematic interiors for the space which was also based on usage of materials in the interior. The displaced porch was yet another unique item that was created for this design assuming that it shall become a talking point of design of the building. The Porch as been highlighted by using a dark background of dark grey cladding material with stark white and wood texture finish for the porch front. CHALLENGE: the project was handed over to us with all the columns erected and last but one slabs casted. the building was a a mere block with any massing or any thought for the facade of the building. To develop a facade for a nondescript block became the most challenging part of this project. We reorganized vertical functions in the building basis the existing slab heights. The bar was positioned on the first floor which was moved to the 4th floor and the second banquet hall originally on the 2nd floor was moved here. the room were moved to the 2nd and the third floor from the original 3rd and 4th floor. the terrace was a new addition with a roof top restaurant. With all the reorganizing of floor the next big challenge was to plan the services for all floor functions accordingly.
