PRIMARY FUNCTION: Cluster & Mobile
INSPIRATION: Tvs wanted to launch a connected electric bike with an integrated interface that helps monitor, navigate, provides insights on battery health and provide a fast e-bike riding experience. The requirement was to have a user interface for the cluster installed on the bike dashboard that is visible in all conditions and a supporting connected app for mobile through which the user can interact with the cluster app.
Our inspiration was driven from user riding experience, habits and contextual use of mobile as extended experience.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Tvs Creon connected e-bike was designed to provide a premium and cruise bike riding experience. The Cluster app design was focussed on accessibility and contrast to provide visibility in all conditions and have information that is easily digestible. The connected mobile app was designed to enable the user to get insights on battery health and status, setup location to navigate to and sync it with the cluster app and be able to track/monitor the overall health of bike.
The multidisciplinary design included graphic, interaction design, usability, ride experience design & mobility design.

The mobile application is the key interface where the user can view bike statistics such as battery health, trip history, track bike location, setup navigation and lock-unlock the bike. When the user connects to the cluster app installed on the bike, the data is auto-synced and is available on the cluster app. With an intuitive navigation system and intelligent movement monitoring, if the user has an incoming call when riding, the alerts are not shown until the bike is stationary to ensure safety.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Project duration was 3 months across Bangalore & Delhi, India.
The bike was launched to the public in Auto Expo 2018

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This application has been designed for Android and iOS phones 4.5 Inch and 6.5 Inch Screens. The cluster app was designed for Android 5 Inch screen only. The visuals and interactions have been designed to cater to any age group but predominantly focussed for trendy 18 and 26 years age groups.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research interviews with teenagers and TVS key product stakeholders and IoT development team helped us understand the workflow and functionality of the e-bike. The insights helped us come up with the concept and flow for both the applications. We developed a storyboard to bring out the best features and designed the interface along with prototypes. We iterated innumerable times and arrived at an easy-to-use and trendy interface and video that could be presented to the public in the Auto Expo.
The multidisciplinary approach allowed it to have an holistic approach towards the challenge at hand.
CHALLENGE: We had to approach this project from a unique perspective since the interface had to be trendy and have a premium feel yet be visible in all lighting conditions. The requirement was to have a simple elegant interface that does not distract the rider and have only the relevant information, especially while in motion. We needed to make the flows extremely fast and seamless. We overcame the challenges by prototyping and constantly reviewing with stakeholders and end users.
