| DESIGN NAME: Carqon PRIMARY FUNCTION: Electric Cargo Bike INSPIRATION: We have based our research on insights from the audience of energetic and trendy parents with the ambition and means to get the best out of life in everything they do. Target group exists out of parents between 26 and 45 years old, with dual income and above average disposable income. They are facing urban mobility challenges getting through busy city traffic. The target group lives a luxurious lifestyle, with focus on quality & style. It became clear for us in our research phase that there is a need for a luxury cargo bike with features seen from the car industry. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Carqon wants to offer ambitious parents the freedom and convenience of a distinctive cargo bike which distances itself from the status-quo. Via a stylish, sturdy and thoughtfully designed cargo bike, fully equipped with reliable high-end quality parts. Carqon is an exclusive mobility solution for parents who want to benefit from the freedom and convenience of a cargo bike. Carqon wants to provide parents a mobility solution where they can move in style. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Carqon is based on intuitive driving. The driving experience is like driving any other normal bicycle even though the Carqon is longer and can carry more persons. The interaction between the motor control and the pedal control is also very intuitive. The harder you pedal the more assist the motor will give you. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was started in May 2016 and will be finished June 2019. The project was started by Global head of Design Mr. Brian Hoehl and CEO Mr. Epco Vlugt. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Easy mountable and demountable aluminium frame Rigid and strong aluminium frame Refined double cable-steering system Powerful Bosch performance middle engine (gen4-ready) Gates belt drive combined with internal gear hub Dual battery option (For extra long driving range) Comfortable suspension front fork 4 Piston Hydraulic disc brakes 27,5 inch rear wheel A small door in the box with a safety lock Lighting system with; LED-strips, LUX front light. Storage compartment for the rain-cover. High focus on convenience with a touch of luxury feeling. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge in this project has been to make sure the cargo bike has a holistic design where every angle of the frame, every centimeter of the box has been designed to make 1 compact, holistic whole. Another big challenge has been to build as many safety features into the product as possible.
