DESIGN NAME: Oiless
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Plate
INSPIRATION: I started with user observation and found people have three ways in nature to decrease additional oil or oily sauce of food. Scraping food on edge of bowl, press food on bottom of bowl, using rice to absorb oil. I applied these function in personal plate to redesign, so that users need not learn how to use this new product, just use it unconsciously.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: My plate design aims to aid people to reduce additional oil and oily sauce unconsciously. Chinese food always contains oil in the sauce. I applied three existing oil-remove habits in personal plate by changing the plane bottom into a spiral one, so that people can reduce oil by scraping, pressing and absorbing oily sauce. And this plate dimension is 184*184*13 mm with fillets, which is easy to store and clean.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: People use personal plate to store food they get momentarily. In this process, they can scrape, press or absorb food by the special spiral structure of this plate.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Started in April 2017 in China and finished in February 2019 in Milan.
