| DESIGN NAME: Lotus PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ring INSPIRATION: The beauty of the lotus flower inspired the designer to create a Lotus wedding ring. Two flowers are wound to support each other and protect the little bud of a blossoming lotus. The lotus is a symbol of life and therefore two flowers and a bud represent two loving people and their desire to be near and create a family. This ring symbolizes purity of mind, true love and a desire to build a common future. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The central stones of bright red color are framed with a faded red cast of pink gold, turning into the neutral color of white gold and diamonds on the shank. This technique enhances the emphasis on lotus buds, and the simplicity of the lines and the absence of additional elements focuses attention even more on the flowers surrounding each other framing a small bud of a blossoming lotus flower. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This jewelry is for everyday wear but it may also be worn as a cocktail ring. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: 14K White and Pink Gold with 3 rubies in the center of the composition and 12 White Diamonds are located on the shank. This ring is created as a 3D CAD design within Matrix, printed the wax model on a 3D printer and produced by traditional lost-wax casting process with pink gold. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Finger Size 7; Dimensions 22mm * 10mm * 27mm; Weigh - 7,03 gr. TAGS: fine jewelry, wedding ring, lotus, ruby, gold, symbol of love RESEARCH ABSTRACT: My research indicated that nobody ever created a wedding ring depicting two loving people and their child as the lotus buds implemented into a design. The research was done using online tools and searches. Also, the symbolic meaning of the Lotus flower was studied. CHALLENGE: The challenge was to design a ring for everyday wear with flowers that could be worn comfortably and produced easily. Her early designs were originally created in Saint Petersburg, Russia in 2013, and later she continued her education to further develop her skills as a jewelry designer at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Carlsbad, CA in 2016. |
