DESIGN NAME: Summer, Happy Time
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Retail VM
INSPIRATION: The directed contents of the photo zone was made into a space for shopping mall customers to experience regarding the festival that will happen in Seokchon Lake of Lotte World Mall in collaboration with Illustrator Sin-young Kim.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The fairytale-like world for customers to experience a large complex shopping mall called Lotte World Mall is directed rather than the simple shopping area, by communicating with customers about 4 stories connected to each season.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The display using the shopping mall space entirely better delivers the seasonal atmosphere to customers, the show windows placed in the moving line that customers move for their shopping were separated according to scenes, the photo zone placed in the lobby was made into a space for customers accompanied by children to take a rest and experience stories together, and graphic banners unfold a story by embodying stories about each scene.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: It started in June, 2018 and ended in August for the whole space of Lotte World Mall

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: When it comes to the form of structure, it was made by plywood basically, and the color and texture were expressed by painting and printing. Characters were made by FRP material for the 3-dimensional expression. The space for customers to take a rest was made by fur and artificial flowers, and large dolphins for customers accompanied by children to experience personally were made by balloons, the inside of dolphins by the silicon material harmless to the human body, in order to satisfy customers’ five senses.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We agonized lots of times to change various spaces of Lotte World Mall into a space for customers and children to experience under a story. We tried to give a story to characters expressed in the illustration under a theme ‘Summer Happy Time’ for customers to feel delighted in every space they visit.
CHALLENGE: We aimed at connecting broad spaces of the complex shopping mall where a lot of brands collide with many images, with a story to provide customers of Lotte World Mall a new experience. It was designed to be a complex culture space for whole family not a shopping mall for just selling goods.
