| DESIGN NAME: Piilo PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Stool INSPIRATION: The idea behind Piilo was to combine different functions in a suprising yet subtle way. It represents design arising from a real need, as homes are becoming smaller, space is limited, and you have to maximise the use of each product. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Piilo is a stool (or a side table) which hides a storage space inside its seat, making it suitable for different spaces and needs. It can be a spare stool in the kitchen, an entrance hall seat, a sofa side table or a bedside table, simultaneously storing and hiding small objects inside it. Light birch combined with bold colours and a simple form give the stool its identity. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Piilo is a stool doubling as a hideout: you can store small items inside. It is designed especially for small but functional homes. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The idea of Piilo stool was born in January 2017 in Helsinki, Finland and the prototype was exhibited in Finnish Design Fair Habitare in September 2018.
