AZIS`- Male Prostitution
PRIMARY FUNCTION:

INSPIRATION:
Dortmund ist the center of male prostitution in Ruhrgebiet. Around 250 young men in the average age of 21 years work as male prostitutes. 40 per cent of them have an immigrant background. The reason
they come to Germany is to help their families financially. There is much need for information regarding health and education. With AIDS-Hilfe we got to know the boys’ life within 9 months. The project intends to call attention to the boy’s live-situation and to give them the opportunity to express themselves.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
A subjective photographic documentary on young male prostitutes with migration backround in Dortmund, Germany, 2010. Only few speak German, have an education or any knowledge regarding health.
Their workplaces are bars, saunas, cinemas and parks, parking places and roadsides.
Their customers are men (40-80 years) who pay between 5 and 30 Euros per
service. I concentrated on the contrast between the great social cohesion of the persons and the tough reality of their working lives.
