DESIGN NAME: Pavomea Chickpea Crisp
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Food Package
INSPIRATION: The special torn-open change is like a metaphor of every single people fighting with a social mask. The prism structure is also impressive, taken from the brand logo and brand culture.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The packaging design for the new product Pavomea Chickpea Crisp picks up on the aesthetics of portrait painting by Leonardo da Vinci. His portrait called “The Lady with the Ermine(1489-1490” served as direct inspiration in creating four female figures reflecting the four different flavours of the product. These figures also represent four different ideal types of women. As a surprise effect, the eye part of these illustrated figures clearly changes when the packages are torn open.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Pavomea is an artsy dessert brand that focuses on creating new desserts and snacks combining artistic elements. We want to make a hit snack with special design which can be spread online(self-diffusing)
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in Jan 2018 in Beijing and finished in March 2018 in Beijing.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We arranged four characters to symbolize four typical kind of girls and each of the figure need to be visually related to the flavour.
The first is Ms. Ayako who is a pop idol that loves to collect hats and buy things from second-hand market. She is quiet outside and warm inside, holding a red carp. And she stands for the flavor of Mustard sea moss. The second is Ms. Fiona who is a foreign company executive. She holds a teddy bear and stands for the flavor of pistachio. The third is Ms. Chuan, she is a music producer who enjoys electronic products and futuristic dresses. She holds a fox and stands for the spicy flavor. And the last one is the owner of a dessert store, holding a peacock, standing for a special flavor coming from the traditional Chinese dessert called the date and walnut.
CHALLENGE: The prism structure and the tore-changing design is quite hard to achieved but we finally did it with the help of the printing factory.
