DESIGN NAME: Bachelor Pad
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Private Residence
INSPIRATION: Creating the ultimate bachelor home. Blending the luxurious sleek aesthetic of the modern man and the comfort of functionality in the space. Alex Kovachev and studio Idea International are inspired by the powerful yet gentle character of the client, combining graphic shapes with earthy tones and textures.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This apartment is a sublime private bachelor residence, in the heart of the city. The chic luxury aesthetic is acquired through the crude geometrical forms in combination with the gentle oval forms. The marine blue undertones shine through the earthy warm hues creating a focal point for the elegant seating in the living area. The marbled build in kitchen is situated in front of the eight-person dining table with custom lighting to complete the elegance of the whole space.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The apartment is made to suit the needs the client, taking in consideration the function of the space as well as the aesthetic.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2018 and was realized in June 2018, still functioning as a private home until present day.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The main aspects of the material production in this project are the various natural stones used in the design, produced especially for the client. A window cabinet for glasses hanging upside down, is also designed, the holders produced by the company to mold around the glasses.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 120 square meters, situated in Sofia, Bulgaria

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research for the furniture production is the most important one for this project. It begins by envisioning the final outcome first, then designing the desired shapes, afterwards comes the production method and sourcing of materials. The chosen stone for the living area is alabaster marble with a build it bioethanol fireplace.

PROFILE: With a desire to create immersive environments and a passion for exploring the unknown, IDEA often takes a multi-disciplinary approach to its array of projects. For the last 10 years we have been providing interior design services to companies all around Europe. Founded in 2004, and based in Sofia, the firm specialises in a wide array of project types, from hospitality, residential and food & beverage, to product,
yacht, and set design. Crafting a unique and individual concept for each project is fundamental to IDEA’s successful design approach. From the big picture to the last detail, the aesthetic story informs and drives the design. The seamless synergy of technology, craftsmanship and design is reflected in our environ- ments that often combine high-end video technology, handmade objects, special effects, custom fixtures and furniture.
To offer our full scope of services IDEA employs a full time staff of 31 people in our headquarters in Sofia which at the moment are handling 24 design and build projects. Our current projects include a restaurant in Mayfair, two apartments in central London, two large houses in Essex, an apartment in Paris, a mansion in Moscow, a night club in Berlin, a large beauty salon in Gent, a 80 foot sailboat which is being built in Istanbul, as well as the design of three Bombardier private jets.
