DESIGN NAME: La Orden del Libertador
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Whisky Malbec Wood
INSPIRATION: Inspired by the decoration medal "Order of the Liberator" that is awarded to officials that deserve the honor and recognition of the Nation. This is the case of General José de San Martín, who was also part of the inspiration.
A condor, native bird of the Andes, the sea, a lighthouse, the mountain range and a cliff were also part of the creation combining the Cordillera de los Andes and Mar del Plata city on the Atlantic coast.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Brand image design, labels set and case for a high quality and category whisky.
Unique and first packaging of whisky aged in french malbec barrels.
Exclusive label for a whisky that combines the "Order of the Liberator" medal , a condor, a lighthouse and the cliffs of the atlantic coast.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The product was created with the ambition to present Argentina as a country capable of producing premium spirits. The objective was to establish the excellence of the materials and the high quality of its visual presentation as part of the identity of the brand. The creative challenge was to create an image that would be so attractive to the consumers, as to encourage them to overcome reservations of it being a new brand from a country with no whisky tradition. Therefore, it was necessary to design something with great visual impact on the shelf, able to compete with premium and craft whiskies.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2018 in Mar del Plata and production / printing was finished in November 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: An in-depth investigation was carried out on each of the graphic elements to be used. This research was performed with books, historical material and internet, thus gathering all the necessary information to proceed to the design stage.
Three different bottles were provided so the design was worked looking for the most functional bottling for the project.
CHALLENGE: The designers together with the producers decided to present a combination of well-known traditional and historic elements of the country, in order to evoke the name of the product, but also the local pride, while appealing to a worldwide audience. The challenge in this case was to tread very carefully as not to transform a very elegant product into something that would look more like a tourist souvenir. The choice of the condor, the medal and the background illustration were helped by the stamping in gold and the custom-made form of the label to bring forward a unique and distinctive design.
