PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bistro and Cosmetics Shop
INSPIRATION: The main visual element or the design of Mooy's brand identity is the 'tache de beauté’, being one of the 7 attributes of female beauty.
For the design of the bistro and skincare shop, both under one roof, the 2 circles defined both areas, creating, quite literally, 2 beauty spots: one for the inner body and one for the outer body.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Mooy believes in the natural beauty of every woman. With a carefully selected offer of healthy dishes and premium skincare products Mooy caters both to the inner as the outer beauty of its clients.
The brand design and interior design have a strong visual link, resulting in several shades of pink and 2 very impactful circles that define the bistro and skincare shop.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The intention of two business reinforcing each other works in the case of Mooy. With the two entrances Mooy draws in people with two different mind states , but they discover the second proposition (horeca vs skincare) and are triggered to live it instantly or at another time.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Mooy was opened in Lombardenvest 19, Antwerp, Belgium in December 2018

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: One special feature in the design is the circular wall niche filled to the brim with handmade paper flowers, all custom-made for this bistro.
Staying in the right shades of pink, a tailor made terrazzo was created for the tables, kitchen and toilets, and a tailor made liquid floor.
The light fixtures evoking a natural and organic feeling are also tailormade for the project.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Inspirational research was conducted through discussions and interviews with Mooy's founder, as well as researching beauty and health trends.
CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge here was to find a general concept bringing the two briefed mindstates together.
