| DESIGN NAME: Within PRIMARY FUNCTION: Interior Design INSPIRATION: Our inspiration is coming from industrial look and feel. We used lots of cement texture and material and exposing pipeline to create modern industrial style. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The client, Mr. Liu was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan and he has lived in the city for more than 30 years. His new purchasing home is located in XinZhuang, which is 30 minutes drive outside of Taipei city. In this project, Radius designed a modern city atmosphere to the space, making him still feel like living in the city that he deeply connected. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This project brings out the architecture’s basic form, retaining the original cement board finish of the ceiling. A geometric form made of walnut wood is placed in the space, which is divided into private quarters such as storage, bathroom, and kitchen. Against the backdrop of concrete, wood as a material introduces a sense of warmth into the space. Mirrors in the foyer create an illusion of depth. The shelf under the adjacent cabinet extends along the wall and merges into the television cabinet as one long platform. The viewer’s eyes will naturally be drawn to the contrast between the interplay of light and shadow reflecting off the metal of the cabinet and the subdued finish of the concrete wall. Completing the multi-textual harmony is the white marble of the shelf below. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in June 2018 and finished in October 2018 in Taipei,Taiwan. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Concrete, faux cement paint, Stainless steel plate,wood SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 105sqm. 3 bedroom, 2 bath and 1 living room. TAGS: City, Taipei, Taiwan, Modern, Resdentail RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We started our research by understanding our client's childhood memory. Mr. Liu was born in 1980 and we have studied a lot of material that were been used for interior space in that era. Our approach is to combining modern design with personal and unique memory to this space. CHALLENGE: Storage is an important part of the house. We plan to combine the guest bath, the storage cabinet, the kitchen location, and use wood to present the temperature in the home, while the other walls use mirrors to expand the space.
