DESIGN NAME: Philoshphy of Geometry and Color
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Headquartered Office Design
INSPIRATION: Inheriting the architectural design and the design of interior public space of the Maike Center building, we relate the design of the installation in the public space of Maike Group's office with the design language expressed in the"Silk Road"bridging structure in the building.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design echoes the architectural characteristics of Maike Center, through the extensive use of geometrical elements including angled line segments, triangles, and straight lines, as well as the use of round corners. Such design representation is mainly expressed in the spatial layouts of room functions on each floor, the outlines of various materials and fabrics, the shapes of decorating lamps and the ambience of lighting, the positioning of furniture and its texture.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The addition of water falls, pebbles and playing fishes, as well as lively arrangements of flowers and plants and a scenery of moon, creates an artistic and natural mini-landscape, which yields an interesting environment for the office space.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2016 in Xi'an and finished in April 2018 in Xi'an

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design echoes the architectural characteristics of Maike Center, through the extensive use of geometrical elements including angled line segments, triangles, and straight lines, as well as the use of round corners. Such design representation is mainly expressed in the spatial layouts of room functions on each floor, the outlines of various materials and fabrics, the shapes of decorating lamps and the ambience of lighting, the positioning of furniture and its texture.
The crystal bar rods on the vertically-gridded background wall imitate streaks of rain which fall into the water feature, joining the reception background with the installation.
Transparent glasses on the sides not only ensures safety but also allows the delicate and harmonious beauty of the white steel plates and wooden steps to infiltrate into the public space. The natural green plants at every stairway platforms helps create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The use of casual office furniture and appropriate lighting design integrate together the real needs of employees for a functionalist space, open spaces for negotiations and discussions, and recreational space for tea breaks.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The reception lobby looks out through the window into the mountainous ranges of Qinling Mountain. The installation in the lobby brings the faraway mountains into the inner space by using contour lines as design concept.
