DESIGN NAME: Convection
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House
INSPIRATION: The choice of materials was also intended to complement the design. System cabinets made from recycled timber, anti-formaldehyde paint and LED lighting were used extensively. Natural materials such as glass, metal work, stone and timber formed the main body of the interior.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Space creation and use of materials were emphasized during the planning and design of this residential project. Environmentally friendly and enduring building materials that met EU standards for dirt-resistance, scratch-resistance and fire-resistance were used while the convenience and free lines of movement formed the defining principles of the layout.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The result is a free and uncluttered public space. The TV wall is faced with clouded marble that provides a contrast between strength and subtlety against the wall behind the sofa. The unvarnished recycled timber in the lounge room creates a serene and rustic atmosphere.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project finished in Sep. 2017 in Taichung City, Taiwan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The entrance is a public space while the lacquered glass in the foyer extends the sense of space and blends with the dining area. The central hallway divides the rectangular space into two parts with the right side serving as the boundary to the lounge room. Warm and cool palettes further separate the two spaces. The long dining table made from white Spanish Silestone defines the dining area with the kitchen hidden away behind the black wall.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The space is 114 square meters

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Room walls featured a reflective glossy finish that is not only easy to clean but also highlights the succinct, contemporary lines and texture.
The eco-friendly design and rapid implementation makes this a residential template well-suited to modern urban setting.
CHALLENGE: Pale-colored timber was used as the basis for private spaces that serve as an oasis of peace and quiet. Instead of upholstery, storage cabinets were used for the back wall of the master bedroom to give the space more variety. The cabinetry was also used to hide the beam and complement the multi-layered ceiling design. Attention to detail made the design suitable for everyday living. The handle-less design of the storage cabinets enhanced safety. Providing plenty of storage made this a great place for long stays and ensured that storage remained while still providing a backdrop to the living spaces.
