| DESIGN NAME: Seeme PRIMARY FUNCTION: Working Table INSPIRATION: The concept is inspired by my roommate and her cat that her cat always bothers her while she's working on her project on the desk. As I research deeply, this problem almost bothers all the cat owners. Therefore, I want to solve the problem and design a good looking furniture to display at home. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Seeme presents a clean and playful environment. Two separate areas create a working station for the human and playful playground for the cats, which human can focus on their work while cats are having their time in the playground. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: As the user receive the package, there will be assembly instructions sheets that users can easily build up the table by themselves. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2018 and ends within 4 weeks (School Project), and it continues in September 2018 and finished in October 2018 and was showcased in Academy of Art University Winter Show. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Since the design is meant to be easy to produce and product, I've decided to use the CNC machine for the production and by calculating and saving the materials was a challenge for me. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Product dimensions: 30"W x 36"L x 31.75"H Package dimensions: 38"W x 32"L x 10"H In the package, it will also provide assembly instructions like Ikea's furniture. TAGS: Cat, Working Desk, Table, Furniture, Cat tree, Packaging, Prototype RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Since the design concept is straight forward, I've researched the behavior of the cat and how people work at home using their desk through online, physical observe and survey. As I need to understand the ergonomics for the cats, I've observed the similar product - cat tree and even visit cat cafes for a better understanding of how they jump. CHALLENGE: The hardest part while working on the prototype would be the thickness of the design because the first design thickness was too big that everything was too heavy, that it was a challenge to bring all the pieces back to the school workshop. Another hardest part of the research was the dimensions of the cat playground because the tables have a standard height that I have to think of a way to make the playground playful.
