DESIGN NAME: Arm Offices in Israel
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Office Space
INSPIRATION: The offices were moved from a rural town to a high-tech center. In order to continue and provide intimacy and a home ambience to the new urban space, the chosen concept was to recreate a home away from home feel.
For this purpose, we designed intimate working spaces we call neighborhoods, for the various working groups. The areas were separated by partitions that are solid yet transparent and that provide a barrier on the one hand, and proximity on the other, for improved collaboration.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Partitions for personal space with a unique bent wood element were used in different variations: as a decorative element, as a container for lush plants, as a shelf for placing decorative items or laying markers for the dry erase board incorporated into the partition. In order to provide sound insulation acoustic panels in a variety of colors were incorporated into the partition. Work stations were positioned near the screen wall to allow for natural light to penetrate the office space.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Scrum corners designed for brief meetings where participants stand facing a screen, are extremely important to the company. These corners include high-standing tables to match the style of work. The triangular edges of the building have been transformed into seating casual areas.
Each floor was designed with a meeting area, a kitchenette, phone booths and casual seating areas.
One floor has been designated to be the communal floor and it is used for hosting events and other social gatherings.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2017 and complited in July 2018.
Project location - Industrial area, Raanana

Folding chairs intended for guests within the open space area were added, as part of the partition design (relevant slide with pictures within the attached pdf file).

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Our firm accompanied ARM in the change-management process. The change in the organizational culture, in the new work culture, in addition to the change in location, was challenging. Hence, we recommended that management engage and involve all company employees in the process. Thinking teams were established in order to compile ‘wish’ lists for the new premises. Some of these were implemented such as an aquarium, plants, a gym, a bike room and swings.
CHALLENGE: The global corporation requested that the new premises be planned as open-space offices whereas previously employees were accustomed to working in groups and in enclosed rooms.
As a solution to this challenge, we created the neighborhood concept, intimate work spaces for groups of four, divided by diverse solid transparent partitions and folding chairs intended for guests needing to sit in front of the work station.
Our emphasis throughout this project has been the wellbeing of the employee.
