| DESIGN NAME: Shunfa Polar Bear PRIMARY FUNCTION: Exhibition INSPIRATION: A large area of the floors and walls is covered with marbles. The natural grains of the stones function as artistic decorations, and create a soft aesthetic in the space under the elaborately-arranged strip lights. The space features a color palette of white and dark, which are similar to the colors of polar bears' skin and fur respectively. Dominated by a white tone and dotted with black stone materials, its modern and minimalist design style is highlighted. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project is located in Shuitou County, Nan'an City, Fujian Province, China, adjacent to Xiamen Special Economic Zone. Through utilizing a modern and simplistic design language, the designer created a minimalist, humanistic and unique display space for the Chinese stone products brand SHUNFA. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: By using a modern and simplistic design language, the designer created a minimalist, humanistic and unique display space for a Chinese stone products brand. Different from a traditional showroom that functions as both a products display space and a retailing store, it's more like a situational experience space. Within it, each product is not merely an individual object but becomes an important medium to provoke interaction between people and the space under an experiential commercial setting. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: A large area of the floors and walls is covered with marbles. The natural grains of the stones function as artistic decorations, and create a soft aesthetic in the space under the elaborately-arranged strip lights. Besides the spatial environment, the aesthetics is also reflected in the contrasting texture of stones and wood. The ingenious use of straight lines and curves produces fantastic visual effect. Green plants are used as decorations of a wall, adding an artistic atmosphere to the space. CHALLENGE: Since the client was not clear about the positioning of its products, the designer had to change and overturn several layout design schemes until identifying the final one. NAME: HUANG CHENG DESIGN CO.(HK) PROFILE: The designer, Zhu Shengwu, is based in Shenzhen. He received a bachelor's degree in Nanchang University, majoring in construction engineering management, and later joined the Senior Training Program on Hospitality Design organized by Tsinghua University. He has been engaged in interior design for 16 years and participated in several five-star hotel projects. With strong electromechanical expertise, he has accumulated rich experience in on-site design and construction drawing design for hotels. |
