| DESIGN NAME: RoWrite PRIMARY FUNCTION: Smart Writing Pad INSPIRATION: Hand-writing is a good habit which seems to be gradually discarded due to the enrichment of electronic products. It happens that people forget how to write the word they think. Rowrite is designed for people to reacquiring the hand writing habit and enjoy the convenience of electronic products. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Unique Royole patented flexible sensor technology helps you achieving the digital format with normal paper writing. It easily and accurately captures your paper writing in real-time through the app and save them on the cloud as long as you like. Compared with the traditional notebook, RoWrite can playback the writing current and sort the notes so as to manage and save the notes. RoWrite provides the traditional hand writing experience and is easy for recording and modification. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: 1. Press the Power Button to turn on and to wake from Sleep Mode. When on, press the Power Button once to turn off. 2. Press the Button A to send internally saved pages to the RoWrite App on a paired device. 3. Press the Button B to have the RoWrite place the next strokes on a new page. If you’re taking notes and press B you can merge the pages later in the App. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The product is designed in March 2017 and finished in November 2017 in Shenzhen, China. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Rowrite has built-in flexible sensing technology to accurately sense the trajectory of writing and writing force of the pen on plain paper. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 190 mm * Depth 7.3 mm * Height 270 mm TAGS: technology, smart, hand-writing, notes management, humanistic concern, return to the tradition. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: A great deal of researches and analysis have been conducted to collect the pain points of recording tools in daily use, including: offline visit, online and offline questionnaire survey, forum communication and so on. People tends to record by hand writing on paper. However, how to easily save, manage and search for notes are the pain points of paper writing, which helps the electronic products to get a foothold. Therefore, a product that can help people enjoy the hand writing experience and also provides smart management of notes is essential. That’s why RoWrite designed. CHALLENGE: 1. To totally recognize and record the hand writing current, the built-in sensor should be highly accurate. We spent several months to test the software specifications and the thickness of the products by repeated writing and testing, and finally achieve the required sensor accuracy. 2. A good writing pad should be convenient for carry and well protected by the case. The traditional heavy case has been creatively developed to a light and removable functional protective one with high quality, which can protect the writing pad but does not add too much weight to it.
